About

I am a registered architect in the United States (Virginia). I earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati in 1986 and a Masters of Architecture from Yale University in 1990.

In France, I am a menuisier. I have no formal training as a cabinet maker but I did train as a furniture maker with the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine, completing a 12-week intensive course in 2002.

In 2005, I returned to the Center for a one-week introductory course in wood turning. In 2021, I returned again for a second woodturning course.

The work I show here is a combination of work done for pleasure, work completed at the woodschool, work for clients in France, and work completed for my own home.

Unless noted otherwise, the work is detailed and built by me. My atelier in Paris is was a space of about 34 sm (about 366 sf) in the cave (basement) of our apartment building, hence thecaveforwood.work. My new atelier is in Saint-Ouen sur Seine and with it I am developing a new site: doublezero.one. It’s name comes from the tiny label on the door, 001. It is the first atelier on the left when entering the courtyard at 4 rue Blanqui.

My personal website, of photography and writing, is thecampmobile.com. I’ve started a second Squarespace site, acampmobile.space.
